Class Descriptions


Leap of Faith uses an age-appropriate, Vaganova based curriculum.
The Vaganova method involves the systematic and progressive study of all ballet movements by breaking them down into separate elements.
Students are taught to dance with the whole body to achieve harmony of movement and creative expression.

Ballet 1
Ages 4-6
No experience necessary

This class introduces students to basic ballet concepts, body alignment, posture and locomotor skills. Students develop self-expression through creative movement and imaginative activities. 

Ballet 2
Ages 6-8
No experience necessary
This class focuses on the fundamentals of ballet technique, proper placement, vocabulary, etiquette, and ballet-based improvisation
are used to build on the skills acquired in Ballet 1. 

Ballet 3
Ages 8+
No experience necessary

This class introduces the traditional ballet class structure. Students continue to learn fundamental ballet technique through barre work, center exercises, and across the floor combinations designed to build coordination, flexibility, endurance, and musicality.

Ballet 4
Ages 11+
One year experience required
This class focuses on intermediate barre work, center exercise, and across
the floor combinations. Students continue to learn technique and
placement while emphasizing musicality. Combinations to strengthen
the legs, feet, ankles, and back are introduced in preparation
for pointe work.

Ballet 5
Ages 13+
Three consecutive years’ experience required

  This class focuses on more advanced technique while emphasizing
musicality, turnout, alignment, and expression.

Modern and Lyrical
Ages 11+
No experience necessary
This class introduces the foundations of modern and lyrical dance
through warm-ups, stretches, isolations, and movement progressions. Students learn variations while incorporating tenets of modern dance
such as suspension and release, fall and recovery,
and the use of momentum.

Teen & Adult Beginner Ballet
Ages 12+
It’s never too late to start! This class is for the ballet beginner seeking to learn the art form for the first time, or for the first time in a long time. Basic ballet positions and steps are introduced as the class progresses through simple barre, center, and across-the-floor combinations. Modifications are offered for each exercise. No experience necessary; all are welcome.

Teen & Adult Intermediate Ballet
Ages 12+

This class is for students with previous ballet training who are comfortable with a more fast-paced technique class. Principles of ballet terminology, musicality, and alignment will be reinforced as progressively complex combinations are given.
